Strelets Mounted Rif Rebels

I was browsing through the Plastic Warrior Review and came across Strelets Mounted and foot Rif Rebels and wondered if we could use them in Jack's colonial army to bump up the Dervish forces.

I am not sure if they were work but I went ahead and painted them anyway, starting with the mounted figures.  We have 20 or so B&B Foreign Legion figures so we can always try a small game with them instead.

There is a lot of detail on these figures if you want to go there, but my eyes are not up to it these days,   I think they would benefit from some of the Army Painter dip  or similar to bring out the detail, unfortunately, mine had gone rock hard and I am too mean to buy some more at this stage!!

Now painting the Foot figures

  1. Nice that you get so many poses. the guy on the left with the sword in a slashing position is superb.

    1. Hi Norm there are a 12 different poses. I do like the poses but I probably would prefer fewer poses but some duplicates.

  2. But where do you get Strelets figures with any degree of confidence so you don't end up with half an army and unbale to find the second half?

    1. Hi Rob, I got these off Ebay and they seem to be reasonably available. There are also sets under WW1 for the Arab uprising, Lawrence of Arabia. The infantry set have a very nice looking vickers gun team amongst others. But as you say, they don't seem to be available anymore and they only seem to have been released a couple of years ago. So I take your point about starting a project and discovering the figure suddenly become unavailable, but you can find the same thing with metal ranges.

  4. Hi, we have every intention of plying with these. Either as part of Jack's colonial army against the British or against some French Foreign Legion figures. Just finished the Rif Foot Rebels so it will mean that it will be 4 to 1. Just need to get out of lock-down to be able to get them on the table.
